Roots & Rituals

Where people and plants are put before profit. Plants hold such immense power, some recognized for millennia, nutrition we need, daily remedies that work and even spiritual enlightenment and trauma healing.

Human beings are an emotional bunch, constantly searching for a feeling, we are either running from them or chasing them! In this pursuit, our search becomes habits and habits become our rituals. In this grand "choose your own adventure" storyline that you are the star of, it is paramount to choose these rituals wisely. Here at Roots & Rituals we also understand that convenience is king and that people do not have time to research 100 different products and decipher what they need to buy from 5 different sources and to remember to take them all separately. I am here to help. I want to make this easy and effective, this is where we take plants rooted in tradition into modern uses with formulations backed by science. Every product we make will be superior in quality by selective sourcing and doses that exceed medical efficacy thresholds. No snake oil here, just products made for the people, made to work and made with love. Harnessing the plant kingdom for the human race.

Meet Tommy Speziale

Tommy Speziale headshot

My name is Tommy Speziale, I grew up in the Monterey bay on the California coast, surrounded by redwoods, cannabis and cool ocean breeze. My love for plants and nature is lifelong and passionate, from recreational to shamanic my experiences are plentiful. After decades of hands in the dirt cultivation projects, I went lab coat and slacks for a handful of years. During those years I concentrated on formulations, brand development and manufacturing contracts for hemp companies here in this country and South America. During the culmination of the past 2 decades, my frustrations with the corporate world escalated as I ran into the same profit over people mentality time and time again. My spirit, knowing the powers that plants hold, no longer could operate in that low vibration. I see the world differently and now I have started Roots & Rituals to share how I see the world. Join me as I bring functional wellness into your daily rituals.

A Name Rooted in Tradition

The surname Speziale means "apothecary" or "spicer". It is an Italian occupational surname derived from the Late Latin word speciarius, meaning a dealer in spices or groceries. The name was given to families whose ancestors worked as apothecaries, preparing and selling medicinal remedies.

Origin: The name is of Italian origin, particularly from the southern regions.

Etymology: It comes from the Italian word speziale, which means "apothecary" or "pharmacist," tracing back to the Latin word species, meaning "spice, groceries, merchandise".

Meaning: It literally translates to someone who deals with spices and medicinal herbs.

This ancestral connection to plant medicine isn't just coincidence - it's destiny calling me back to my roots.

Tarwi lupini beans, an ancient Andean superfood high in complete protein and essential nutrients

DISCOVER THE PROTEIN OF THE INCA

Tarwi has been cultivated in the high altitude Andes for millennia and out performs other Lupin from around the world with 51% complete protein with all essential amino acids, rich in omega 3,6 &9, 10 vitamins and minerals, low cal, low carb, high fiber and lectin free.

Fully digestible with no bloating and naturally prebiotic

A true superfood rooted in history and ready to be part of your daily rituals.

Why Tarwi is the World's Superior Plant Protein

For over four thousand years, Andean farmers have cultivated a single legume that consistently hits 51% complete protein — higher than any other lupin species on earth and 25–40% denser than soy, pea, or hemp. Tarwi Corp's high-altitude varieties (grown exclusively above 3,400 m in Peru) delivers all nine essential amino acids in ideal ratios, with a PDCAAS of 0.98 after debittering — beating isolated soy, and without the allergens, phytoestrogens, or oligosaccharides that trigger bloating in up to 30% of soy consumers.

The same traditional water-extraction process that removes bitter alkaloids also slashes lectins by 95% and cuts raffinose/stachyose (the main gas-causing sugars) by more than half. The result: a powder that digests effortlessly, stays stable in smoothies for 72+ hours without souring, and feeds beneficial gut bacteria as a natural prebiotic — something soy, pea, and rice proteins simply cannot claim.

Compared to soy (allergen-heavy, estrogenic, rapid spoilage), or common lupins (38% protein, higher alkaloids), Tarwi stands alone: cleaner, denser, gentler, and undeniably superior.

Beyond Protein: A True Whole-Food Upgrade

Tarwi isn't just protein — it's balanced functional nutrition protected by the mountains themselves. When elite Andean seeds are moved to lower altitudes or different soils, protein drops 8–12% within one generation; the 51% figure is literally locked to the high Andes terroir and centuries of farmer selection.
